Why the wall-floor joint matters
The perimeter joint is a common place for water to become visible because it sits near the footing and drainage system. Repeated water there can be an important clue that the problem is bigger than one surface crack.
Drainage and groundwater
When groundwater repeatedly reaches the foundation, an interior drainage system may be considered to collect that water and move it to a sump rather than allowing it to spread onto the floor.
Do not assume every puddle is groundwater
