How interior drain tile works
A trench is opened along the inside perimeter of the basement floor. Drainage pipe is placed in washed stone and connected to a sump area. Once the system is restored, water reaching the footing area can enter the drainage system instead of spreading across the basement floor.
When it may be considered
Interior drain tile is often evaluated when water repeatedly appears at the wall-floor joint, groundwater is affecting the basement perimeter, or an older drainage system is no longer performing as expected.
Drain tile and the sump system
Interior drainage typically works together with a sump pump. A good drainage path is only useful if the collected water can be discharged reliably.
